Futbol, Baby! Where to Watch Soccer, Brooklyn-Style
On the corner of Dean and Vanderbilt in Prospect Heights, Woodwork sits ensconced in the bottom of an apartment building. Dark & dank from thousands of pounds of alcohol crashed and spilled on its floors and walls.Today was Champions league; Real Madrid vs Manchester City.

The “Los Blancos” fans sing their team songs as if their lives depend on it and once they go through to the finals, true pandemonium ensues. The owner, Ross, whose own Arsenal flags line the exposed brick, as picnic tables flank the front and back of the bar that run almost the entire length of the establishment. High tables with stools stand opposite your bartender, Sarah, with her curly brown locks and witty persona which add an intelligent air to the place that could easily be a speakeasy.
Despite the burgeoning high rise across the street which forecasts the next wave of eminent gentrification, Woodwork maintains its DIY roots with PBR, Magic Hat, Radenberger and Rolling Rock as well a superb Bloody Mary’s and specials like Crooklyn — Bourbon, Aperol, lemon, cherry juice. A sneaky upscale menu rounds out your stay with my personal favorite a “Hammy”, Black Forest ham and gruyere, grilled on a croissant. Yum!
